A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
